Let’s Talk Numbers: Spark the Accounting+ Career Conversation in Your Classroom

For educators looking to start or continue the conversation with students about careers in accounting, we’ve curated a selection of Accounting+ resources and additional activities.

Accounting+ Classroom Activities

Below are classroom activities you can use to help set students up for success as they look to college and connect their passions to careers in accounting. Below is a preview of each activity and link to the worksheet to download.

Choosing the Right College for You

As students get closer to making decisions about where they want to attend college, this worksheet will help them consider the types of experiences they want to get out of it to increase the odds of a seamless transition into the accounting field after graduation. After having them complete the worksheet, encourage an open discussion about how they can evaluate the best programs for their needs, ask for help, find the right study techniques, and more.

Turn on the Possibilities

Accounting can turn passions into careers, making every day feel like an adventure. Whether it’s fashion, sports, music, or something else entirely, students can find accounting roles in any industry that excites them. But figuring out what you're passionate about—and how it connects to a career—can be difficult. This worksheet will help students explore their interests and see how accounting fits into their dream industries. Plus, it’ll point them to the right resources to learn more and start making their career goals a reality.

Pitch Perfect

Throughout students’ academic and professional journeys, they'll have many times they’ll need to pitch themselves—whether it’s for a job, a program, or a scholarship. Now’s the time to practice. This worksheet will give students the chance to refine their story, connect their experiences and interests, and craft a pitch that’s clear, confident, and persuasive. Have staff share their own example before asking students to share what they wrote to encourage participation.
