Q: What barriers did you face breaking into accounting and how did you overcome them?

The biggest barrier I’d say probably is my background educationally. I didn’t go to a big-name school where a lot of recruiting is usually done by these institutions. So I had to be very intentional about networking—going to career fairs, going to networking events, exchanging LinkedIns, developing my LinkedIn presence, working on my resume. That way, anytime I did have the opportunity to engage with career professionals, I was able to make a good first impression.
