If there’s one career path that allows for flexibility to pursue your many different passions and be multi-hyphenated, it’s accounting. Not only do you have the ability to operate in many different roles and industries, but you also have flexibility due to the work-life balance and the money you earn. For example, maybe you want to be an entrepreneur and start a corn dog restaurant (just go with it). As an accountant, you will have a natural instinct when it comes to business decisions – you’ll know how to balance the numbers, build your business plan, and bring in investors so that your mini corn dogs can eventually become state-fair sized corn dogs. Or perhaps, you’ll need the work life balance to travel to Oregon to scope your competition (DYK that Oregon is home to the world’s largest corn dog? We didn’t either!). Your job in accounting can afford you both the flexibility to travel, and in some cases, maybe you might even be able to fit the trip in on the company dime, depending on your work travel needs!
